The Celtics are out on the West Coast. Last night they beat the defending champs in a blowout fashion and tonight they beat the Kings. It has been a tough stretch for the Celtics with bad losses and team drama but have they finally turned the corner?
After the Warriors game, Kyrie and Hayward said the long plan ride was exactly what the team needed. No details on what happened but my guess is everyone roasted eachother and let it all out.
A lot of negative energy has been building up to this point and I bet someone finally let it out, maybe Marcus Smart, and they let each other hear it. We’ve heard stories about teams doing this in the past and then see them end their losing streaks, most recently the Philadelphia Flyers two years ago. Who decided to get drunk as a team and let it all out.
The Warriors were without Klay the other night but they still have four other all-stars on that team. Yes, the Warriors have been sliding as of late but it is a solid win to turn things around. Tonight is arguably the biggest win of the season for the Celtics. The Celtics could have taken tonight off vs the Kings but they didn’t. Make that two wins in a row for the Celtics who look to be back.
Hayward had a very solid game vs the Warriors, dropping 30 points off the bench and hits the game winner tonight.
Hayward very well could have been the center of discussion on that plane ride. His play has been abysmal at times this season but he has stepped up the past two games.
The Celtics should win the rest of their West Coast trip. The Lakers stink, ask Stephan A. Smith, and then Tuesday is a huge rematch vs the Clippers after the collapse the Celtics had last time vs the Clips.
I am still confident in this Celtics team in a seven-game series vs any team in the Eastern Conference. They have the talent to reach the finals they just need to play with each other. These two wins could be a start in the right direction.
It’s only two wins in a row but how they have played this season this encouraging. Need to string out a nice win streak here to get back in the top three of the East.
