With the baseball season right around the corner we will get you into the baseball mood with throwback post. Each day I will post a different highlight from past seasons to get everyone fired up.
Today’s post will be Josh Hamilton in the 2008 Homerun Derby. The greatest performance in the home run derby. Hamilton hit 28 dingers in the first round. He was smashing the cover off the ball. I remember watching this
People always forget though that Hamilton despite his strong showing did not win this derby. Justin Morneau did, Hamilton ran out of gas in the following rounds. I mean he was basically up there for almost a half hour during the first round of course the guy would be tired.
Hamilton had all of Yankee Stadium cheering his name. Such a feel-good story considering what Hamilton had to overcome just to get to this point.
Hamilton struggled with drugs and alcohol, early in his career and he was in and out of baseball. He didn’t make his MLB debut until he was 26 years old. Hamilton was dominant during his time with the Rangers which then landed him a nice 5 year $125 million dollar deal with the Angels.
